Suga International Holdings Limited (“SUGA” or the “Group”) (Stock code: 912), a leading electronics total solutions provider which is also engaged in the pet food and accessories business, announced that Dr Ng Man Cheuk, Alfred, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Group, has been selected from over 1,300 candidates to receive the "2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneur" award from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union, in recognition of his outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the Greater Bay Area. In the award notification, the organising committee of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Awards said that Dr Ng's struggles and achievements will inspire more young people and create more legends.

Dr Ng joined SUGA in 2014 and has been responsible for exploring new business opportunities, overseeing research and development (“R&D”) activities, and leading the EMS Division. Dr Ng spearheaded the implementation of SAP, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems (MES) at SUGA’s Dongguan factory to effectively manage the manufacturing process. He led the factory in optimising ERP and MES and completely revamped the foil planning and scheduling system. Furthermore, he enabled the Group to adopt end-to-end tracking of orders and the mass customisation planning approach, further improving production efficiency and inventory management. His contributions led to SUGA’s receipt of the "Best Investment Value Award for Listed Companies" in 2018. In the same year, capitalising on opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative as well as Vietnam’s flourishing development, the Group set up a highly automated plant in Vietnam and applied the above systems to the plant’s production management.

Dr Ng has been committed to R&D for many years; he has established an R&D team focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile applications to enhance the Group’s innovation capability and develop advanced products. Years of innovation have brought new business opportunities to the Group, as well as helped it to earn many patents, global trademark registrations and accolades, such as Certificate of Merit, presented by Asia Smartphone Apps Contest, and Outstanding Solution/Product, awarded by Asian Electronics Forum.

Dr Ng has persistently sought opportunities to diversify the Group’s business, in order to create value for shareholders. Leveraging the solid foundation of the Group’s electronics business, Dr Ng took the initiative of entering the pet products market in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Japan a few years ago, consequently yielding significant results. “Brabanconne", the in-house brand of Suga's pet business, was awarded the “2022 Hong Kong Emerging Brands” by the Hong Kong Brand Development Council this year, while “The Gift for Life”, the Group's distributor brand, won the “Chinese Herbal Medicine and Natural Health Products” award from MoCity. In addition to facilitating investment opportunities for the Group, Dr Ng also supports local and overseas start-ups, such as Concept Infinity and Dott. Aside from offering financial support, Dr Ng is also a board member of these companies, providing valuable business insights and advice.

In addition, Dr Ng recognises the importance of contributing to the industry and society. He has promoted collaborations between SUGA and local research centres and universities (e.g. PolyU, CityU, HKU, CUHK), including sponsoring the "NAMI Automated Assembly of Intelligent Materials and E-platform Technologies", developed by Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd., and the “User-centric, Difficulty-sensitive Document Retrieval” project at the City University of Hong Kong. The Group has also set up the SUGA Research Laboratory for Sustainable Urban Green Agriculture at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to realise the common goal of promoting research and development of green farming for the benefit of mankind. Furthermore, the Group has established a joint laboratory with the Department of Electrical Engineering of the City University of Hong Kong, with a view to facilitate the development of technological industries via innovative and application technologies, and thus enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong.

Dr Ng said, “I am honoured to be selected from amongst so many candidates and to be part of such a prestigious event with so many esteemed individuals. This is the first accolade I have received since becoming the CEO of SUGA, hence it will always be the most memorable. However, the award should also go to the entire team, because without them I would not have been able to lead the Group’s steady growth over the past nine years. I hope that this award can send a positive message to the Group, the younger generation and the community at large. I know that this accolade will further motivate me and my team to work even harder in leading SUGA into a new era, while at the same time contributing to the development of the electronics industry and the Greater Bay Area community.”

Organised by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Awards was presented for the first time in 2020, with the aim of identifying young entrepreneurs in the region who have strengths and potential, and to recognise their contributions to the Greater Bay Area. This year's awards include Outstanding Young Entrepreneur, Outstanding Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Best Entrepreneurship Award, Best Technological Innovation Award, Best Business Service Award, Best Social Responsibility Award and Best Cultural Creativity Award.
